The spell checker refuse to work
I think it is a situation with OE6 itself, as I recall Spell (F7) didn't work on OE6 in 98SE either. BUT, it DID work with OE5.5 and my Word95. So, in XP Pro, I'm using OE6 and Word 95 installed and working fine, spell check works. But still no spell check in OE6. I have the right files in the right places.

Michael Solomon's Fix: Spell Check requires MS Word for Windows 95 or higher, MS Works 95 or higher, MS Publisher 95 or higher be installed on your system in order to perform spell check. If you have one of those programs and spell check did not work, you should remove that program and reinstall.

outlook express is way slow annd spell check does not work
I don't have spell check, it's greyed out (of course), I then install my copy of Word97 and the spell check is no longer greyed out, but I now get an error message 'an error occurred while the spelling was being checked'. The help in Outlook Express indicates that I only need Word, Excel or Office to be installed.

Yes OE and Outlook use the Word Spell Checker, but Outlook uses Word's Grammar Checker that looks at sentence structure and makes suggestions or catches missed words out of a sentence. I always seem to miss something. I looked at the properties of Outlook at work and don't know exactly how to do it with pop3 server
